April fools baby

Happy 1st birthday, Drew! (a little late)

April 1, 2011 -- hard to believe he was ever that little

My big 1 year old devouring his cupcake!  Didn't take him long to get the hang of it.  He is my son after all.

He LOVES his new "Da" from Geegee and Papa.  Jake named him Woofie.  Dogs and horses are definitely Drew's favorite animals right now.  He walks around giving Woofie hugs and kisses.

Jake playing with one of Drew's new toys.  He thinks it is his, and he is mistaken.

This is definitely my favorite picture of the day.

so serious.

 found an airplane

Kevin - trying to light Drew and himself on fire.  It was a little windy, so we just ended up skipping the candle altogether.

You can tell she's looking at Sarah and Daniel to see if she can eat what Drew is offering her.  Drew absolutely adores Jane.  I think they may get into some trouble together in the fall.
Jane sang "happy birthday" to Drew while he was eating. :)

Thanks to everyone who came, it was a really fun day!

A little bit about Drew right now - he's been walking since about 10 months, he's practically running now!
He says "I want that" when we are feeding him...of course, it sounds more like iwntat, but you get the idea.  Other things he says:
da for dog
ca for cat
roar for lion's sound and sometimes even for elephant :)
ra ra ra for dog's sound
dada
mama
ma for moon
mmm for cow's sound
too too for choo choo for train
baba for ball
ba for bath
He likes to clap, give high fives, and play peek-a-boo.

Drew is keenly aware of when he is bothering Jake, and when Jake gets upset, that just makes him do it more or faster.  When Jake lines up cars on the car mat, I think Drew can sense it from across the room.  He will walk over and move one.  Then when Jake gets upset, he starts waving his hand through all of the cars and they go everywhere!

Drew loves to read books - he will find one that he wants, walk over and throw his hands up in the air for you to pick him up.  One of his favorites right now is about trucks (and because there is a horse in it).  He also likes to play with the basketball - rolling it back and forth or going to chase it.

Just as Jake has done since he was about Drew's age, Drew likes to follow Jake into the kitchen to put his cup in the fridge after breakfast.  Drew usually has other things in mind...he'll try to get to Phoebe, or try to play in her cat food, or grab other things out of the fridge.

Drew LOVES to dance!  When any kind of music starts, he starts moving and he gets so excited.

Last thing, if it's time for a diaper change, I'll say something like let's go get a new diaper, and he's starts running to the bedroom.  Of course, once we get in there, he tries to get away from me while laughing and squealing!

He is so much fun!  Kevin will often say to him (and Jake) - "can we keep you?"  Jake has even started to say it to us.  A few days ago, I had to go to a meeting, and Jake said to me "I want to keep you."

We are so thankful for these two boys and all of the blessings they bring to our lives!
