Alaska

Beautiful scenery! Wild animals! Glaciers! We went to Alaska at the end of May. Kevin had to go for work, so I tagged along...very fun trip...enjoy the pictures!

Mount Rainier in Washington State from the plane on our flight to Seattle.

Driving from the airport to our hotel...amazing view!

Moose are as common as deer are here...too bad we didn't get to see a real one. This is from the museum, yes I went to a museum.

This is the first thing I saw when going into the Botanical Gardens. I went in about 10 feet, took two pictures, and then I left! I did NOT want to see a bear.

Now, we're in the car...so it's ok to see a bear. Why did the cub cross the road?

Smile for the camera!

We drove up to a scenic overlook to see the city of Anchorage. The tall buildings near the water are downtown.

Kevin's co-worker Steve took our picture.

Lots of people have these planes, because there are so many lakes in Alaska. It is easier for them to fly than drive...it was pretty cool to see them taking off and landing.

It is 4:06am and it's sunrise! Crazy long days...the sun wouldn't set until 11pm or so. That along with the 4 hour time difference really screwed us up.

On the way to our day cruise in Whittier, Alaska. Apparently Whittier is the northernmost rainforest...so basically it is raining and cold ALL the time. We had to go through a tunnel, only one car wide. Cars and trains share the tunnel, so basically each side only goes through once an hour. This is the only way to Whittier other than by boat! So crazy!

They are hard to see, but there are sea lions and sea otters on the ice near the base of the Surprise Glacier.

10,000 birds...while we were watching two bald eagles swooped in and the birds all came off the rocks and flew in circles, it was amazing!
